i've seen pvc pipes used a lot, and you can paint them different color if you want it to match your box, but i too am wondering how you atach it. i've done rectangular ports before and that's pretty easy, but no circular.

just cut a hole and insert the pipe. liquid nail works. and PVC pipes works fine.

Re: building ported box... how to make round port?

I used a router and circle jig to cut holes in the baffle for mine and then secured them with hot glue. I ran a good amount of hot glue around the pipe and then used a mallet to drive them into the box. I also used a rounover bit in the router to flare both ends of each port.

also does it matter where you put the ports? i see yours are on the front with the sub... a diagram i saw had the ports on the side of the box both on the same side? does it matter as long as the dimensions of the box and ports are correct?

Re: building ported box... how to make round port?

It depends on what you are going for. In an SPL install you will really have to experiment with several boxes to see what works best. For an install where the goal is music reproduction, the results are much more predictable if the ports and the sub are all on the same plane on the same side of the box. Accurate sub-bass from a proted box requires the optimal phasing of the port output and the speaker output and this is best acheived with them pointed the same way.

Re: building ported box... how to make round port?

it actually surprised me... i had that same 10 runnin in a 1 cu ft box before... it was the box that my 4 10's were in but i only hooked 1 up... and now with this box it sounds a lot better... it gets louder and is more punchier... doin this made me think of going with just 2 10's ported instead of 4 10's and takin up all my trunk lol
