I'd just tear apart the old box and move the internal wall shrinking the sealed to 4 and making the ported 12 and retune to 47hz if you don't like it build a ported box if you do rebuild it a little nicer reused boxes are usually very ugly.

bought from MBROOKY, johnny law.Lulz, subzero, tc3k101
    sold to mytrunkslamz , vitveet, cd6551, martiandancer31 (x2), pro-rabbit, whytellyou
    Trade with cf2004

well i get free sheets of material from work. would 4 total sealed and 8 ported work good? I was thinking adjustable ports so i can test out tuning. will 47 hz still give me good lows into the low 30's and high 20's?

47hz will get you solid output into low 30's and usable to the low 20's

Dude. You made a box and failed. Buy more wood, try something different. My advice would be to pay a professional for a design, and avoid bandpass if you don't have a lot of time and wood to spare and a really good reason to even bother.
