Help!

alright, im making a single twelve box, 36 inches wide, 10 inches deep, and 14 inches high, this will give me about 1.3-1.5 cubic feet with half inch MDF. my questioin is..i want to fiberglass a piece that will be formed from inside the box comeing out....to hold my sub, if it were firing up it would look like a oddly short volcano in a way, (bad example but you get the picture) how would i calculate the extra air space into the final equation. I may put 2 pieces of MDF on the front and back walls, to get as close to 1.3-1.5 as possible. its and eclipse 87121dvc made for small sealed enclosures....any help appreciated.

It's hard to say because we don't know how high you're making your "volcano," but you can take some measurments and lay them out here or just use some basic geometry and figure it out. With sub displacement included I don't think you'll be ending up with too much extra volume unless this is a big extrusion (sp?)

That box's volume is 2.37^3, not 1.3-1.5.

i just gunna be enuff to have the sub tilted....not much at all, i figured maybe an extra .2

Use 3/4" MDF. 1/2" will flex and ring like a mother and sound terrible, not to mention cost you a ton of sound volume.

well i may just make a wedge coming off the regular box now that i think of it. because i dont see how i would cleanly secure the fiberglass to the box, and then vinyl it and it be strong. oh well when i get two subs im gunna put two wedges and the subs firing at each other, and make some plexi lettering with neons to shine on em, make it look nice, maybe a design in the vinyl.
