whats really weird is i took it to my car to finish it off an it dont sound bad still gives off deep bass with no rattling noise.. did i burn out a voice coil?
Throw a multimeter on them coils and see what's up. If smoking something was going wrong. Still man, I'd upgrade. There's good stuff out there for a good price if you know what to look for.
Try free airing the mofo, see if you can hear anything mechanical going on.

if you have to buy s $100ish 15" sub, get a Audiopipe TXX series. Specifically, the ones with the fiber cones. Those cheap subs are actually pretty beast. 3" coil on the TXX- BE15Quote:
