1 - Sundown SA-8 v1
I'm trying to design a vented enclosure for 1 Sundown SA-8 v1.
It will get 400w and is going in my 2001 BMW 530i. I want it to fire through the ski pass in the back seat (as seen below). The angle is 115 degrees. There are a couple holes in the rear deck lid to direct the vents through if that will help with sound quality.
My max dimensions are 32" wide x 15" tall x whatever depth necessary.
I modelled it in WinISD and got a 0.5 cu.ft box tuned to 32hz with a 3" diameter vent x 35" long (vent mach 0.8)
From all my reading this sub does well in a 1 cu.ft vented box. Did I model the box in WinISD wrong?
I tried getting RAM design a box for me to no avail.
I'm willing to pay $25 for a design that fits my needs.

PM the guy I mentioned and ask. He does designs for lots of people on this forum. Otherwise, here's a couple more:

I'm just bored and hanging around. Glad I could point you in the right direction

1 cubic foot is a bit on the large side for these subs. I wouldn't go any larger than .75 cubic feet and feel free to save yourself some port length and tune at 35hz instead of 32. It will still get plenty low with a 35 hz tune.

Isn't that 3 inch aero big? Just wondering because I have a 2 inch one currently for my e8 v2 and just ore ordered the v3 e8 and it's similar to this sa8 v1.

You're right. I actually ended up going with a 2.5" x 17" long port after messing around with the Torres calculator.

And that seemed to work? I think the 2 inch I have now is to small. Did you use PVC pipe or something else?

Re: 1 - Sundown SA-8 v1
I haven't finished it yet but I will be using PVC pipe.
I didn't go with the 2" for the same reason. Thought it would be more likely to whistle.
I'm going to do a small DIY flare on the PVC as well.

Those subs can handle a lot more power too if you ever get bored for 400w. I put approximately 800 rms to my one and adjusted the bass down. Little pricks drill!
