    Screws for MDF Baffles

Quick question, guys. I'm looking at picking up supplies from Home Depot either tomorrow or Saturday for an install. This is pretty much exactly what kind of baffle I'll be making; bottom plate is 1/2" and ring is 3/4"

Question is, what type and size of screws should I be looking to pick up for the project? I've heard sheet metal screws, but don't know what length. 1"? 1 3/4"? Looking for advice.

Forgot to mention that I also have Titebond III on hand, not sure if that makes a difference.

Long enough to not go through your car door so 1.5-1.75" long would work.
^1.5-1.7" for the section that's 1.25" thick, you could get away with shorter screws for the thinner layer.

So would 1/4 extra for each section work? That would be 3/4" for the back plate and 1.5" for the ring+plate.

    Re: Screws for MDF Baffles

Id use 1" for the 1/2 plate, and for the 3/4 in ring, Id use 1.25-1.50.. the bottom plate will be screwed to the door,secured,/then the baffle should be attatched to the bottom plate, though I would not have more than 1/2 in inside the door panel,.You can use thin self square head self tapping screws for the bottom plate, and wood screws for the baffle.

I wouldn't see why not, it's not a subwoofer so I doubt it'll have enough force to come loose.

Awesome. And just a stab in the dark, this being not a sub and all...Liquid Nails = overkill?

Kinda like these here, but a flat head, these are hard to strip out, as Phillips do under stress

I use these type on wood to wood, and sub mounting, sometimes I use a Hex Deck screw for mounting as well.screw in very nicely, without stripping the head.

I see where you're going. Any chance I could bother you to pull a few links from THD so I can add it to my list? I have the app so it makes it ridiculously easy to stay focused when I'm in-store.

Thank you. I definitely appreciate it.

Additionally, how does this look for a cable cutter/stripper for everything up to Knu KCA 0ga?

I like the idea of the anti-theft...unfortunately the smallest size for those screws in stock at my location are 1 5/8"...won't that be too much penetration?
