Oh, I thought that was a 4". Yeah, I definitely wouldn't do a 3".

Lol using a 4" would force me to use a woofer with roughly a 7" or less mounting depth (eliminates type R), and the port would be around 24" long, or 4.75" from the other side of the enclosure, which I believe is enough room. It will also be roughly 6" from the side of the trunk so I think it would be okay for loading. I also just so happen to have a 4" port long enough.
Do the 4 inch, for sure lose that curve, and port into the cab!! If you're gonna have a beauty plate like that you're gonna wanna port into the car, not trunk
I would do sealed and do more cone area myself.
I think a sealed 12 would be better if you have the airspace and you're sealing the woofer off from the trunk with that front baffle. Obsidian audio would be a good choice for budget friendly woofers.
I also considered the option of a sealed 12, but it simply wont fit. The beauty plate also doesn't really hit the top of the trunk, so it isn't completely sealed. There is no way of me porting into the cabin of her car. Lol It has to be simple. I'm going to be installing this Christmas Eve after she goes to sleep, like a good brother. :P
Hey did you get this installed? I've got a sealed 12" type r in a custom wheel well box that looks slick and saves tons of room.
could you do a vent possibly? might be easier to achieve proper tuning without port noise
