    30" x 2" Square port?

    Hey guys

Im helping a friend with a build for a DD 9515g

Box is 4 cubes and the slot port would be 30" x 2" for a total of 60 square inches of port"

My question is is the 2" of port sufficient in height or will air have trouble escaping the port? Do i need to do like 20x3" or 15" x4"?

It would be much easier to do the 30"x2"

    Thanks

nope. you will build too much compression with such a skinny port. it will mess with your tuning and it will create port noise.

    Re: 30" x 2" Square port?

Yeah figured I would get port noise

Okay so ill go with 15"x4" then. Does 60" of port area sound right for a DD 9515? About 2.5k watts going to it.

I had about 95" for two on my past setup

16^2 for DD's is the norm for daily.

1:9 ratio for slot ports, so your 2x30 is not even close...

I don't think That's how the calculation works, Try downloading Torres box calculator, it gives you the real port area as well as the square inches per cubic foot automatically.

The recommended DD box system uses 16sq in of port for every cube so you could go a little bigger to ~64sq in of port area.

    What vehicle are you using?

    Second:

What is your max measurements for the enclosure?

I will have other questions, but you CAN NOT answer them without first answering these first 2 questions.

    Yeah i'm not doing a 30x2 port

    I'm going with 4 cubes, 32hz with 60" of port area (15" x 4")

Here is the box design. Sub facing up port is facing up on drivers side. Sub will be on top on the right side or directly in the middle of the box.

Max dimensions 31" wide, 27" deep. 12" height towards the trunk lid and max 18" where the seats will be.

Car is a 2004 Hyundai tiburon, so its a hatch.
