Custom fiberglass center console for 8"sub

If i build a center console from scratch for an 8"sub (not decided on driver yet) does the shape matter? Like if it is l shaped with the driver at the 90 bend will it sound bad? Looking for sq. here not overpowering bass as the driver will be pointing in between the front seats at dash.

It will more then likely alter the response curve, but more do to loading and such rather then the physical shape.

try it and see how it works for you. I have heard thousands of mix reviews on similar enclosures even ones I have done. Some love them, so do not...boils down to you personally.

Would it be better to build a square enclosure inside of the fiberglass console?

a good configuration is sub back port back, but make sure to leave room for the port to breath.

Re: Custom fiberglass center console for 8"sub

I have a ported Tang Band 8" in my center console. I used it as a sealed sub before and was not happy with the output. If it is possible to use a ten or 2 eights - I would suggest it.

    HU - Pioneer
Front Stage - Old school MB Quartz run off a JL e2150
Rear Stage - Stock - well one works, LOL
Sub - Tang Band 740C in between the front seats
Sub Amp - A tiny Kenwood. - because it fits under the seat.
    Total Spent on everything $50.
