Box tuning does not reply on the subwoofer?

I was just wondering, say you made a 3 cubic foot box tuned to 40 hz for a 15" HC, and sold that sub and dropped an entry level rockford punch or something 15" into that box, is that box still going to roughly be 40hz tuning?

Re: Box tuning does not reply on the subwoofer?

It'll probably change slighty because of the sub displacement, but that's it. The tuning is based on the box size/port size/length/etc. not the sub(correct me if i'm wrong).
