Box Construction Questions

Hey guys. Im new to Caraudio forums and was just wondering some things about construction a box.
I recently sold my 7500 MtX 10's and my 1000 watt amp and with that money and some extra money from work I bought some MtX 9500 12's (two of them) and a Rockford 2500 watt amp.

Im in the process of designing of a box and am basically done. (I own a small composites company so I have some programs and tools that made it easy to design the box)

But anyways...
Has anybody ever priced 1" MDF? I have heard 3/4" MDF ranges from 20-30$ per sheet. Home depot had MDF on their website but not prices.

To me it would be easier to just buy 1" MDF then to double up the 3/4. I was also wondering if people recomend 2" drywall screws or 2" ball point nails. I have strong wood glue and construction adhesive at my shop so that isnt a problem.

I asked around here for 1" MDF a few years ago and it ranged from $35-50 per sheet. With 3/4" MDF you can just use 1.5" coarse thread drywall screws, or 2" screws for 1" MDF. Be sure to predrill, and they'll really grab the MDF well.

Just use 3/4" MDF. Use a single layer throughout with the exception of the baffle. 1" isn't really necessary with your install and is much harder to find (wont find it at home depot, lowes, etc).

Make precise cuts, dont skimp on the glue, pre-drill, and countersink. That's really all there is to it.

Been there once. It was really nice. I would say 1" would be good for the baffle but it would be a little over-kill for the rest of the box.
