so i had a box buiilt for my 98 sonoma for my 18 and it beat really hard and sounded great.i bought a 98 sierra and installed everything in it and now im kinda emberassed to say its an 18 in there its no where near as loud.and i think its because the box sits farther back and doesnt fire off the seats in my sonoma the box was right against the seats and now in my sierra theres almost a foot between the box and the seats do you think thats whats causing it.also if so now my box is like 54wx24hx14d should i make it deeper so its closer to the seats?

Yes a sierra is bigger than a sonoma, but an 18 is still an 18, and thats a ****** 18 you have there. It still should move the same air that it did in the other truck. I dont think it's your box as much as it is probably your wiring. Did you leave a coil unhooked? Did you wire to the correct impedance( I assume 1 ohm for that amp). Check your rca's, gains etc etc. I can see a small drop in output, probably only noticable on a meter. Heck, with a bigger cab, It may even sound better and deeper.

everything on the amp is how it was in my sonoma and all my wiring is good to my belief i'll double check it in the morning but i just cant believe how much output i lost

If it is so much output that your wondering if it's an 18, then it shouldnt be the box. If the sub was pulled from the box (likely) it could very well have been wired wrong on reinstall

sub was never pulled from the box it sat in my room for a few days and that was it.only thing i can think of is it being so far away from the seats it has nothing for the soundwave to fire off of
