All right guys, Jmac has worked his magic again and found that I need a 1.75 cu. ft. box for my Pioneer Premier TS-W1241C to gain 7.2 dB. That sounds great to me because the 1 cu. ft. sealed box it is in right now is just not doing it for me. Anyways, I need some help with the actual dimensions of the box to achieve this volume and tuning. Jmac mentioned that I would need about 17 cu. in. of port space to get 34Hz tuning, so I kind of played around for a few minutes and came up with the following:
Box - 21" length X 15" height X 10" depth
Port - 1" diameter slot port X 13.6" deep
Now with my calculations, this is pretty close to the right volume and port area. I think, however, that these need to be the inside dimensions, not the outside, because of a 1.5" loss from the MDF. Also, I don't know if 34Hz is the right frequency for me. I listen to many types of music, but want to get a whole lot of bass out of this box while still retaining some SQ. I thought that boxes peaked at 4-6Hz higher than their tuning frequency, which would be about 38-40Hz. Could somebody please help me get the right dimensions for the box and let me know if 34Hz would be a good tuning frequency. I would really appreciate it and it would help my system tremendously.
