Need Help On Ported Box Design

All right guys, Jmac has worked his magic again and found that I need a 1.75 cu. ft. box for my Pioneer Premier TS-W1241C to gain 7.2 dB. That sounds great to me because the 1 cu. ft. sealed box it is in right now is just not doing it for me. Anyways, I need some help with the actual dimensions of the box to achieve this volume and tuning. Jmac mentioned that I would need about 17 cu. in. of port space to get 34Hz tuning, so I kind of played around for a few minutes and came up with the following:

    Box - 21" length X 15" height X 10" depth
    Port - 1" diameter slot port X 13.6" deep

Now with my calculations, this is pretty close to the right volume and port area. I think, however, that these need to be the inside dimensions, not the outside, because of a 1.5" loss from the MDF. Also, I don't know if 34Hz is the right frequency for me. I listen to many types of music, but want to get a whole lot of bass out of this box while still retaining some SQ. I thought that boxes peaked at 4-6Hz higher than their tuning frequency, which would be about 38-40Hz. Could somebody please help me get the right dimensions for the box and let me know if 34Hz would be a good tuning frequency. I would really appreciate it and it would help my system tremendously.

Also, as a followup question, how much audible difference is their when boxes are tuned within a few Hz of each other? Will it really be noticable, or will it just be a little bit louder on a slightly different note of music?

I could really use some help, I have all of my stuff installed and would like to build the box as soon as I can so that I can blast the sub at school. Let me know what you guys think proper dimensions would be and a good tuning frequency.

Ok, I really, really need someone's opinion on this box design. I have the material and am ready to get building, but since this is my first box, I want to make sure the dimensions I have planned are correct. Anyone?

Yes, those are the internal dimensions. If you use outer dimensions of 16.5H x 22.5W x 11.5D (achieved this by adding .75" to each side), it comes up to exactly 1.823.

You probably won't notice the difference in two enclosures if they're only a few hz apart, unless one is bigger than the other.
