    Icon32 Tricks of the trade?

Just wondering what I can put into a sql box that would make it loud as hell. I was thinking fully resined on the inside, but is there any kind of chambers or anything I could put in there? I will be running 2 12" L7's. Got any amount of space these things will need. I was thinking 9cuft before displacement tuned to 30 hz.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    thanks.

    Tune it a little higher.

    Re: Tricks of the trade?

The only thing I can say that I have found out is lots of port area, a well designed box that doesn't flex, coat all exterrior walls with resin. I have also found out that box size depends on the amount of power you are using. A larger box will make the sub(s) more efficient. But this is only good if your using a minimul amount of power. If your running them at or around the rms value, you may actually want a box around the reccomended size. If you want to put more power than the rms value put them in a smaller box so they can handle it. (This is why you see guys putting 5k to a 12"...it's in a .5cu' box)

I have an sql box for my Brahma. It's 4.5cu' tuned to 38Hz....makes my stomache hurt. Tune your box a little higher, like Gauntlet said. Some where around 36-40ish. I have a few ideas for an all out spl box that I will be competing with next season, but your interested in sql so I'm not geting into detail about it.

    Re: Tricks of the trade?

Seriously thanks for replying to my question. I will try all of those things because these will probably not be in for daily. I will try lots of port area, tuning it higher, and the resin. Should I double, I guess its called a baffle, the front of it up with 2 layers of 3/4? Also when it comes time could one of yall help me with my box? Trixter helped me last time with my spl box, so if you could help me again it would be appreciated. Also can you have to much port area?

Thanks for all of the help.

Resin...round the ports, round the corners. Those are the simple things. Tune higher as well.

    Everything else...complex.

    Re: Tricks of the trade?

Put extra wangdust in the port

I think pretty much all the bases are covered here. Make sure the box is sealed tight and maybe some bracing if you have panels that are large and likely to flex. I'd also tune the box as high as you can possibly stand it. 40-45hz isn't unheard of for L7s.
