Ported XXX 12: Fiberglass vs MDF

Ok fellas i really like the idea of fiberglass a. better fit b. cooler looking. However could i make a ported fiberglass enclosure? Is fiberglass strong enough? Should i just stick with MDF for ported enclosures? I will be building this startig tomorrow evening so quick response is needed. Also could i just build an MDF box then add glass for that custom look????
    thanks in advance,
    -Ian

Fiberglass can be ridiculously strong (stronger than standard 3/4" MDF) provided you have enough layers of mat......and yes, you can make a ported all fiberglass box, it just takes a little more work. You have to first accurately measure the volume using water or something of the like, then add the port to the box (you could use MDF and make a slot port, or just use PVC pipe), and make sure the port is stable and secure.

if you wanted to glass separate enclosures for each side of the trunk...it shouldnt be hard pending that the sides are of the same form to begin with...and still, it wont be down to the dot exactly the same airspace, but should be extremly close if done correctly.
