    JMAC!! thought of an idea for porting my box

    Hey, i don't know if you remember, but i'm the one with the truck box that wanted to port it. I just thought of an idea.

    Would it be possible to make a port that goes from the top of the box, all the way to the bottom, then turn towards the driver's side, keeping the same dimensions?

    EDIT: Remember, the box slopes, so the port wouldn't connect the front and back walls of the box. Kinda looks like it would in the pic.

    doing your port like that would be perfectly fine. just sand down the corners so they are smooth. it will deter any goofy port noise if built correctly.

    I'd build it, but i have to know what dimesions to make it. Plus, i'm thinking about skipping that and just getting another SE later on. I got the power for it, so i might as well use it. :thumbsup

    Well, actually i was just gonna take this one apart and put the port in this one. So you can use the other dimensions. Here's the link to it.

    Oh, and i just remembered, since the port has to come out of the top, it can only be 1.75" wide, but as long as it needs to be.

    1.75" because the top is 4" wide, minus .75" for the back wall, .75" for the front wall, and another .75" for the other side of the port(one side is the wall).

    Re: JMAC!! thought of an idea for porting my box

    Jmac, i figured out that the ft^3 is like 1.7 now right? With that in mind i went into WinISD and it calculated for a 35 hz tuning freq, that the port would be 1.25"x6" and be 7.4" long. Does that seem right? I really want to port this box because it was much louder in my car with my friends ported box.

    NEED YOUR HELP!!! Help me make my car loud!!

    Oh, sorry bro. If you got problems it's no biggie, i'm not in a BIG rush to do this. I just want to get it all down so i know what to do when i get the time.

    Thanks for all your help. Just remember that the dimensions are different now, that's why the port can only be 1.25"x??

    Dimensions are
    Top depth=3.5"
    Bottom depth=5.5"
    width=50"
    height=20"

    Re: JMAC!! thought of an idea for porting my box

    Ouch. Not sure of the 43 hz tuning. This is a daily driver box and needs to sound decent. I would probably make it so the port could be sealed up, so i could probably deal with the port noise. I think any way we do it that there will be port noise because the port will be right behind your head. Any way to get around the 2 port idea and get that tuning down? The ported idea is basically just for loud to impress people.

    Sorry for being such a pain in the ***.
