Tips for wrapping a box in vinyl?

I have never used vinyl/leather on a box before and have a bunch laying around that matches my new car. I would like to make a false floor, amp rack, and cover my woofer box in it.

Just wondering if anyone had any tips as far as routering the wood (?) or just tips on laying it out.

    Thanks

Honestly if you have never done it before I highly recommend paying a pro to do it.

Vinyl is pretty tough to work with and get to look correct.

The biggest tip I can offer is have lots of patience, extra material, a heat gun and industrial spray glue. No aerosol can bullshit.

this was my first try. It would have been much easier with better glue. but a heat gun, and some decent vinyl helps a lot.

    WOW, that turned out incredible!

SSA spray adhesive won't work then I assume?

Suggestions on a good contact cement?

looks like the same ish that i picked up from wal mart for 6 a yard ahwile back.

you can lay some batting under it, it will help hide most, if not all imperfections caused by screws/glue runs/etc.

I know I didn't get it at walmart, but from some online retailer. Could be the same stuff though.

when you try repositioning it, the fur gets stuck to your panel and lumps get started

Re: Tips for wrapping a box in vinyl?

I just wrapped part of my door panels in that same material. Make sure you have some good *** adhesive, you dont want it to come back up. I also had to use a shitload of staples, **** is tough to work with, but looks good.
