    Door pod design HELP!!

Okay the install was going good until I hit the door and trying to put a midrange in the oem tweeter hole. Now i can get it to fit in that hole and leave it exposed but I don't like that idea. I mean il do it if I have to but not my first choice(mostly cause the door handle). So I'm needing some help designing the door pods

    pics-

This is the oem grille and in the design of the door pod area.-

Edit: I forget to tell you how many speakers are in there. theres a 7'' dayton mid down below and a 4.5 mid range in the upper hole

well if you can do fiberglass that would be your obvious answer. just bring the pod out a little so you can fit the speakers in there without losing access to all of your controls there. cut out the holes in the oem grille and mold off of that then just wrap or paint them. if you mold off of the grille then you can just clip it back on and maybe use a screw or two

Use the OEM grill cover and trace a pattern onto a piece of masonite. Then you can use that as the foundation to build from.

What do you not like about the panel you made. Are you worried about them sticking out too far or something?

That and I still have no way to cover the midrange speaker. Also if I go to cut the hole out in order to drop the speaker in its way to thin at the top corner (the big bend where the pod starts going down).

    Re: Door pod design HELP!!

With the size of the top speaker it will be tough to get it flush in the opening with so little material around it.The bottom one shouldn't be bad though.
Heres a couple pics of one I built

    Re: Door pod design HELP!!

    Thank you.But not close enough.

Its going to be tough with the top one due to its size and the location of some of your mirrior controls to get it were you want it.Do you need such a big speaker .What about a tweeter instead.
You may be able to drop it down some right in front of the arm rest, but that may be tight too.

No its part of a three way front stage so I need it. Now if I were to fiberglass i could extend around that upper hole. maybe around 3 inches in each direction. where the bevel in the door is where the dash meets it so i could go almost to there if i need to i just don't know if i could pull something like that off

Yes you could go out further. That is how mine are, right to the point were the dash and door meet when shut. But with the way the fleece laid it didn't cause any interferance.
Try it out with just the fleece over it before you resin it to see if it will hit any where. If so adjust it and re-check.Its more or less trial and error.
