Working on box theories.. Help me out.

So I watched that video, im sure most of you have of that team of guys that made 2 6" subs as loud as most peoples set ups with 2 15's or 4 10's if you haven't already taken a peek.. www.powered4sound.com

anyways, i was really impresssed.. and i got to thinking and making box designs while i was working today..

Has anyone done and research on like multy stage boxes? Like multiple boxes ported and tuned to different frequencies within one box..

So like say you have your 10" sub.. Now you design a massive box, and the 10" sub is located in the first chamber which is ported 2 cubes @ say 50hz, which ports off into another box which that is ported to 40hz, which ports off to another box thats ported to 30hz. Follow what im saying? Im gonna try making a drawing and see what people think.. So basically the sub box peaks anywhere from 30-50hz kinda.

i think all the frequencys would be changed into the frequency of the last port it goes through

Slipknot is correct. Everything would be influenced by the last chamber and port. Yet another 'one note wonder'. The other issue is that you're creating large impedance spikes with every successive chamber/port. Single bandpass is hard enough on an amp with two peaks. What you've described would theoretically have three peaks and be nearly impossible to drive for any amplifier I know of....... Nice idea, just don't think it's possible or desireable.

Re: Working on box theories.. Help me out.

If you are talking about the chambers each having one port leading into the other chamber then yes it will all be determined by the last port for the most part. But if you are talking about the chambers having two ports... one leading to the other chamber and the other to the outside to interact with the front wave then it gets really really complicated. Because the port leading to the other chamber acts somewhat like a second sub woofer but it is changed drastically from the effects of the box. It takes years of knowledged to get those theories down pact.
