It will work the same as if it was in a sealed box, as long it isn't blocking your port.

i just gt rid of my 12 l7 in a prefab kicker box that had polyfill in it it had 1 areo so the fill didnt mess with port flow but that box sounded **** good and it was prolly 2.5cf maximum i neve measured it but it wasnt very big but made alot of noise

so if were to line the rest of the inside of the box besides the port with an adhesive and polyfill, it has the same benefits as doing the same with sealed?
Awesome.
It increases the perceived size of the enclosure while decreasing Fb (vent tuning). The amount of change varies depending upon the size of the enclosure (larger enclosure are less affected by polyfill) and amount of polyfill used.
I wouldn't use adhesive. Go to home depot and get a mesh gutter guard, its like chicken wire, screw it down in front of the port and loosely fill your box. If you dont like the way it sounds you can remove/add some, pretty much fine tune it. Never used polyfill personally but thinking about it, not sure it will make too much of a difference tho. This is my first "big" system, so Im all about tryin different things.
I was thinking of doing this with my x.
