How loud do the q's get?

Depends on the power, application, enclosure, etc...

I know that...but in my opinion they cannot handle a whole lot of power....I cannot decide between the bl or the q. I want the speaker to be very musical. I want to be able to hit every note with authority (highs, mids, and lows....) I have type r's now in a ported box designed to alpines specs with a hifonics 2000 watt amp. I sounds okay but some notes it just doesnt hit. I have to find certain songs to find the right bass note to impress. I want to be able to hit ALL notes with authority....

Well, a sealed enclosure might be worth a try then

The type x will fall on it's face in a sealed box. I had a 12" type x a year or so ago and built 8 boxes in two weeks to sound right. The box I was happiest with for sq and spl was 3.25 ft cu each sub, 1200 watts, tuned at 30-32hz. It made the sub really impressive. All the notes were very tight and clean as expected and the lows hit hard. So with a pdx 1000.1 on each and close to this box size you should be fine. I don't recomend a sealed box though. Every type x I have installed sealed just didn't do the sub justice.
