dual 12k slot port help!

Ok...I've got a dual 12K slot-ported box designed and I just wanna run it past you people. Each box is 20"W x 16"H x 12"D. After the .75" MDF box material that leaves me with 1.62 cu.ft. internally. Now the slot port would be firing upwards towards openning next to my 5-1/4" coaxials in the rear deck and the slot port would measure 12"L x 4"W x 1.5"D. The slot port with these measurements according to VentCAL at http://www.loudspeakers101.com/VentCal1.htm would be tuned to 26hz. Does this sound ok...or is the 1.5" depth for the slot port gonna create some wind noise? My 2 12K's and Tsunami amp are scheduled to arrive today...so a speedy reply would be helpful. THANKS!!!!

Ok....well I AIM'ed Jeremy over at ED and we talked over my design. It seems that the slot port isn't gonna work. Instead I'm gonna use a round port that measures 3" wide and 14.8" long. The port will stick 2.5" out of the top of the box to create a 3" clearance inside the box between the mouth of the port and the box's floor to provide for free air movement. Plus the port would be closer to the opennings in the rear deck lid...so all is good! I'm gonna go design the cuts and everything now....so I'll keep ya folks updated.

if your gonna use round ports, do (1) 4" x 20" in each box, that will tune u to 30hertz

That would be nice....but I want it tuned lower....like at the recommended tuned frequency. Besides...the box is only gonna be 16" tall. Too tall of a port will mean that it will hit the deck lid....not a good thing. Hey...if you wanna help, we could get together sometimes today or sumpthin. I'll be at the 24 hr. starbucks in beaverton tonight around 9:00 if you just wanna meet up there.

Oh man....ouch. I fully understand man. I've been in situations where I didn't trust my car enough to drive it very far. Luckily I have most of the wood I'll need in my storage shed, so all I need is to go over to TAP plastics and get some 3/4" Acrylic cut to shape, some clear 3" acrylic tubing and then to a machine shop to pick up some thin brushed aluminum sheet metal to line the inside of the box with. CCFL lighting and strobes are on order along with a blue licence plate frame to stick behind the amp mount. Should be real spiffy when its all done!

its a 88 dodge shadow, so its got like under a 100hp, and how i treat it, its probly down to 65 and the lifters are knockin, and its a fun mess around car.
