Well...I'm planning out a sub box for a friend who is either getting one or a pair of 12" SE's.
I'm turning to you guys for some suggestions
This is the trunk of a Cavalier...so an "alright" amount of airspace - however we still need some trunk space to pack a hockey bag or a pair of golf bags around. I havent measured in a 95 - 00 Cavalier trunk yet...so I cant give you guys any "for sure" measurements. If anyone has any, please post them up.
For a pair of SE12's, I was looking at the following 3 boxes. I have allowed 3" of port width. I think there is enough length and height to decrease port noise and give a proper tuning. Assume 3/4" thickness. All measurements in inches. Final airspace numbers do NOT include driver displacement nor port displacement.
31.25"L x 16"D x 16"H = 4.629ft^3 (external)
29.75"L x 14.5"D x 14.5"H = 3.619ft^3 (internal)
33.25"L x 17"D x 16"H = 5.233ft^3 (external)
31.75"L x 15.5"D x 14.5"H = 4.129ft^3 (internal)
30.75"L x 18"D x 16"H = 5.125ft^3 (external)
29.25"L x 16.5"D x 14.5"H = 4.049ft^3 (internal)
I've allowed 3" (internal) width for a port so far. I can probably add airspace and port area by bringing the height up - but I do not know how high I can go in a Cavalier.
If someone wants to design a port that's tuned to 35hz that is 3" wide and 14.5" tall go right ahead, I just need the length.
I think that 2.25ft^3 would be ideal for a 12SE. Any other input is welcome.
