    acoustic volume = cubic feet?

okay i picked up a nakamichi 10" dvc. reading the specs it says 'equivalent acoustic volume : 41.8 liters.' is this the size of box required? converts to 1.4 cubic ft

and also, what constitutes mounting a sub inverted? ie the magnet facing outwards- is this some sort of sealed/bandpass hybrid dealy? can someone explain speaker requirements and pro/con of doing this?

and inverted sub mounting- with the magnet facing outwards and cone inward on sealed box. can someone explain this?

im not looking for spl, im after quality, and just to add rounded edges to the sound my stock headunit puts out. if that was my mission, id just drop some 15s in and call it a day- been there, done that- to a lesser extent than most of you have im sure.
