Need to take away .5 cu. ft. How much bracing?

How much bracing am I going to need to take away between .3 and .5 cu. ft. from inside my box?

It is currently 1.7 cu. ft. sealed. And I've been talking with the guys at ED, and they feel the box is just a little bit too big.

Can I run the sub IB? I think the box is just about right for that. What are the disadvantages to it like that?
