dd9518g box design help

Hey all I got a DD 9518 and I need to put a box in my car, Im thinking about taking one of the back seats out for the sub to sit and porting through the armrest.

The sub will be slightly recessed so I can put the seat back in and the aeroports will come slighlty through where the hole in the armrest section is.

I dont know for sure but im thinking im going to get around 4-5.5 cubes out of the trunk.

Question is how would the sub sound in a box of that space range tuned to 30hz off of 1500 watts at first and 3000 later, would it be lacking on the high end and overpowering the lows or what and how many/what size ports would it take to get that tuning, if possible I would like to make plugable ports to change the tuning on the fly (has anyone heard/done this, what were results) which I think would mean more would be better as you would get more tuning options. Im aiming for 4 of them and being able to jump from 30 to 45 hz tuning in 5hz increments.

do a wall if that is really a"PureSPLprix". you cannot possibly get a box that will do that 9518 justice in your trunk.

Haha, it WAS a PureSPLprix but now I have a son with a carseat man and his momma dosnt have a car so this is our only means of transportation which means that puts a cramp on my options, plus I want to keep my backseats anyway =).


The box, if I can figure a way to get it in there could go all the way to the back of the trunk minus space for some batteries, or my second option which im really trying to avoid would be scrap the left side seat all together, I know I could get another 1-1.5 cf out of the space where you sit but like I said I want to keep the seat.

Plus If I can put the seat back over the sub thats a little extra security cause if someone breaks into the car and opens the trunk all they are going to see is a big *** box and some batteries

I dont, thats why the subs going to have to tilt at a angle, and whats wrong with tuning it to 30 hz how would it sound

I want it to be as much of a low end monster as possible while still hitting the highs with some force, if tuning at 40 will do this I dont mind but I want it to go LLLLLLOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWz

this is just my opinion but i don't think DD 9500's are very good with the lows....i mean 33hz and up is fine but i dunnoa bout anything lower then that.

lol.....dont believe that one, itll play lows as welll as anything else..... i had a 33hz tune and played down to 24-26 with ease.... also your gonna want more then 4.5-5 gross cubes , somethin more like 6 net and up , otherwise look for a 9515 ..... itll play much better in the space you have to use..... or take the back seat right out and use some of that space too....
