Has anyone ever attempted to make a dual ported box? Like a bandpass box, but both sides are ported, not 1 sealed and ported. Maybe one tuned low and one tuned higher? would this work, i'm curious about this

well...................................one way to find out for sure.
build it and find out
Been done many times. It's called a 6th order bandpass. Here's a link - http://www.diysubwoofers.org/bnd/6thorder.htm
Here's some more good info - http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxes6.asp
not necessarily. A 6th order is a ported box firing into a ported box. he was wondering if anyone had made a box where there was a sub in the middle, and 2 ported chambers, each firing out.
in a nutshell, OP, that wouldn't work. the chambers would cancel each other out. one is sucking air in, and the other is blowing air out.

Yeah...that's a 6th order dual reflex enclosure. Read the info on the www.th12volt.com link I posted above. Explains the pro's and cons.

Um, no. What he described IS a one type of 6th order bandbass. The most common type in fact. What you're describing is another type usually referred to a a series tuned bandpass.
With a basic 6th order, the two chambers are different sizes with different tunings and the potential is there for a hugeincrease in efficiency over a narrow passband. The potential is also there for very good transient response with a loss in efficiency over a wider passband. That type of design is a lot more flexible and tunable than the basic 4th order.

Life's tough...it's even tougher when you're stupid.
we have been doing these types of bandpasses for years. They are very finicky and difficult to make sound good. But in extreme type SPL cars they are proving very useful. 180 dB useful.
