    Have a crazy idea

Anyone ever use that expanding foam in a can stuff to reduce the volume in an enclosure?

I have a crappy temp sealed enclosure that I'm gong to use and it's way too big. Thinking about using this foam to reduce the volume if it'll stick to sides of the box and not come loose. I don't feel like using extra wood like everyone says, there has to be an easier/faster solution.

    Anyone tried this?

yeah, I guess I could 45 the back two corners if that's what you meant. I'm going for like 1/4 to 1/2 volume reduction though. Don't feel like wasting the time, energy, and wood on such a ****** and temp setup.

Might just give the foam a try.

Only issue I see is controlling how much foam you put in there, so you can determine how much volume it takes up.

yeah, foam has been tried. Problem is, Its not dense enough. instead of reflecting sound, it slows down the waves and propogates a new wave at a reduced rate causing unwanted harmonics. Kind of like polyfill making the box "seam" larger.

    Re: Have a crazy idea

can make pretty large 45's ... can set angles different too to account for woofer depth cut 2 more pieces for in between those and get it nice and tight if you're good w/ tablesaw... glue it all down, glass it over once, and you can take as much space as you want.

    Re: Have a crazy idea

Really temporary setup, ****** box, probably better off just building a new one but I'm lazy. Also, how would I fit the 45's through a sub cutout?
