I'm not to familiar with escorts. But I would say try to push the door panel back just a little. Then see if there is a little wire clip holding it on. Looks kind of like the greek symbol for omega or a screwed up horse shoe . Put your hand behind the handle. Then use a pair of needle nose pliers to push on the end of the clip. It will pop off in your hand that is behind the handle.
