yeh, i dont use anything between the subs, a lot of liquid nails, sometimes wood glue in spots. As for mdf not being airtight i dont know, it is! U could use fiberglass resin in there but thats just as air tight as MDF...

I'm not sure on the MDF either, I just read some where that if u want it air tight u should prime the inside of the box or use a paint that would seep into the wood. Maybe it's because wood is poris, so to make some thing out of wood air tight requires a little extra effort.

If you are...then throw some fiberglass over it. Most everyone just leaves their boxes bare MDF, or adds carpet, leather, velvet, etc...

That article fails to mention how big those five pieces of 3/8" MDF were...and what vacuum was used...who knows - maybe it was a big industrial one.
