Benefits/problems with oversized sealed box?

Are there any? Will putting a sub in a bigger box than recommended ( maybe .5 cu bigger per sub) cause any problems? Are there any benefits?

i put two l7's in a 2 cuft each sounds like *** dont do it unless u listen to purly rock and higher bass notes then it hurts just listening to that ****

I have them right now at .63 per sub. RE recommends .65 and I was thinking maybe putting them at 1.0-1.2 cu. ft.....

The only disadvantage is when you go way over the ideal size. Then the speaker begins to behave as though it isn't in an enclosure at all aka infinite baffle. If the speaker isn't made to handle this, then it'll probably bottom out and reach its mechanical limits quite quickly.

A larger sealed box will play lower than a smaller sealed box but it will also reduce power handling at the same time.

With your SE's I would go much bigger than .75ft^3 each unless you port them.

yes, we put an old school solo baric c series in an overly large sealed box running just 400w to it, and we blew it on the ride home haha

The round solobarics had problems with mechanical power handling in the correct size sealed box. The coil could thermally handle way more than the sub could mechanically handle.
