2.5cu ft enuff for xxx?

i have a 2.5cu ft ported box (with two 3" ports) that im using for my power hx2 12. i'm wondering if this box will suffice for a xxx 12. im going for a bit more sq than my phx2 and trying to save a bit of space at the same time so im hoping this will sound O.K.

it should be fine.. Although im not sure what 2 3" ports is would make it tuned at... probaly kinda high.. ill check on it. I have heard 3 cubes is ideal, so i think your A O K. Matt J would know better than me, along with lots of others

It should be ok...RE calls for at least 2.25 net...it's a little on the small side, but it will be ok.

****, how long are the ports? heres a basic idea of what it would be tuned to if the ports are 3" diameter...


3" x 4" = 50 hz
3" x 7.3" = 40 hz
3" x 10.25 = 35 hz
3" x 14.74" = 30 hz

im not sure what the formula is for finding that...but i guess mine is tuned to around 40hz. is that good enough?

may be a tad on the small side but it should still be loud with a high ammount of SQ

I was going to say the bigger the better. But that box should sound ok.

Dont you guys think 14'' of port area is a bit on the small side? I use 45'' in my daily box for the 12, and 150 to compete, I think I shoulda used about 60 in the daily box. 40hz tuning will probably be ok, but you'd be better off tuned to 35 or so if you want more SQ. good luck.
