Best Tuning Frequency to Set Ported Box at

Ok...I have a 3.1 cubic foot ported box with 3 3" ports in them for 2 10" Type-R's. I want to make them pound and I want to feel and get my bass as loud as possible. I can tune to practically anything, What tuning frequency is best for rap and rock music? thanks

i thought 50-60 about was the loudest range, but high 20's mid 30's sounded best?..
In his case he says LOUD AS POSSIBLE, so wouldnt he want in the mid 50's?

It'll sound like *** with regular music...

The highest I'd tune a daily driver is 40 hz...

    slot port

I'm not competing or anything I just want a ported box that will sound good with bass from rap and rock types of music. I was going to have a slot port that is 14.5" high x 1 inch wide and 9 inches deep in a 3.2 cubic foot box total for 2 12's. Is that slot port ok to be only 1 inch wide if it is 14.5 inches high??

I forgot to say....It is tuned to 32 Hz...sound good?

I think the best would be anywhere from 27-33hz for port tuning..Instead of speculating on what to tune it to, just run a sine sweep and that will help u indentify your freqency range...The key is to find your REsonant frequency of your vehicle...coinside that with the box and u will near about have a perfect port tuning!! ALso take in consideratin whether or now this is Competition SPL tuning, or just everyday tuning...If u are planning on competing I would go with 35 or higher..depending on if u can manage to get that tuning to work decently inside of your car!! Good luck

P.s- I strongly recommend u running a sine sweep, best way to figure port tuning and resonant frequency without having to do a ****ign math equation!!

Is it safe to have a slot port that is only 1 inch wide if it is 14.5 inches high??

not 100% sure, it SHOULD be safe- safe is in causing no physical damage to equip. It won't sound good. You'll have mighty fine port noise. I read on the JL site you want slot ports to have an 8:1 ratio.... yours is 14.5:1....

HELL YES>.... SPL:max output seems to be 50-60range...... SQ range is mid 20's-low 30's..... don't even think of tuning to 10hZ.....
    1) heats up amp REAL good
    2) your subs may "over-excurd" and COULD cause a problem if played for extended times.

And you wouldn't wanna tune it to 10hZ.... 1) can't hear 10hZ....2) no music gets to 10hZ (real music) ..... 3) no point in it... I'm sure there's more reasons, but nobody will ever do that.

Well I can only have it 1.5 inches at the most...I just dont have enough room for 2 inches. So should I go with a 1.5 inch slot port that is around 14.5 inches high or should I just make it a sealed 3.2 cubic foot box?? I would like SPL if possible.
