    Changing my pre-made box???

What I really would like would be some sort of link or something that will explain the theory behind air space and ports and what not but for now I will ask my question.
I have a 10" phoenix gold xmax. I bought a pre-made .72 cubic inch sealed truck box. According to the xmax specs the sealed box should be between .35 and .6 cubic feet and the vented should be between .6 and .8
If I decided to put a port in how big (diameter) should I make it and how long should it be? The box is 13.5" high on the inside.

Also, if I decided to reduce the cubic feet by adding something in what would I add? Some foam? Any help would be great. I wish I knew about this forum before I bought everything.

    Here are the sub specs.

    Sealed Vented
Vb* Vb* Fb Vd Vl Vsealed*

    Xmax10
    Musical 0.7 1.75 31Hz 3" 7 3/4" 1.00
    SPL 0.5 1.0 40Hz 3" 8 1/4" 0.70

    Does this make sense?
If not all the specs can be found at www.phoenixgold.com/xmax.html

    Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure what I want it tuned to? I listen to mostly rap so maybe 30 hz?

Well from what i can tell here are a few of your options

20hz - im not even gonna plot that.
    30hz - 2.25" diameter x 18" length ( probably not )
    40hz - 2.75" diameter x 14.6" length ( descent pick )
    50hz - 3" diameter x 10" length ( thats kinda high )

You might need a few other people to verify that for ya.. like.... JMAC.

The box is only 15" tall and 22.5" long. :p

But I would like a frequency of around 35 Hz. If it's not possibe I will go with the 30Hz suggested earlier.

Ahhhhh... Good call. I'm the dumb one.

What should I make my port from? 3" plastic plumbing pipe?

If you made the port that big though that would take a large amount away from the volume did yall take that into account??? The longer the port the less volume he has since the overall volume never changes.

What would be the frequency if the port was 2.5" x 16"?

I may not be able to fit the 3" x 32" port even with an elbow. If were to reduce the length of the port by say 5" how would it effect my tuning? I imagine the Hz would increase would it not?
