Box options for a btl 15. need suggestions

looking for a good daily box thatll sound decent on music.

4.5cubs or 4.2 cubs?

35Hz, 32hz, or 27Hz?


i love the lows but i dont know if i need to go down to 27hz, i'm leaning towards 32Hz.

I think I'd go with 32hz too. Still be able to murder the lows.

I wouldnt go lower than 32. My 18" BTL hammers the lows like no other, its also all over the 50-60hz range, but it seems to lack a little in normal bass lines, like the 40-50hz range so a little higher tuning might be better for that area depending on your musical tastes.

But, if you like the loooowwwsss, go with 32.

Funny you say that The new port I made is at 34~35

how bout the volume? 2.5kw to work with

My box is 7cuft and tuned to 36hz for two of them. From what I researched it seemed like the BTL does great in the mid 30s and they seem to do better in smaller boxes like 3.5-4.0

With my 18 in an enclosure that is right in the middle of the recommended 5-9 (7.2) with the 32hz tuning it seems a tad bit low for my tastes. I love the lows, but it really only opens up on low low material, I would prefer it to be a tad more musical and 35hz might help it. I havent tested it yet with my new port though so we will see in the next week

Not to sound like a negative Nancy, but I don't know if the cobalt has the room in the trunk for 4 cubes net. The max height you can go while still being able to get it in is about 15.5". With a cutout of 14.125", the sub could still fit without a slanted front but it would be very close.

It looks like I might be able to fit it but it would almost block itself off from the cabin. Facing it forward might work but that requires a lot more work too.

I'll keep playing with it when I have time.

We can remove the backseat and we have a height of 17in to work with. i'll get more measurements of what we can work with in the next day or 2 for ya Neil.

If you dont build the enclosure by the weekend Ill have much more accurate results to give you with the 35hz tuning if you would like

BTL 15 – Ported box we recommend using 3-5 cubic feet @ 30-35Hz. Again use 12-16 square inches of vent area per cubic foot of volume.
