I have never used aero ports, and am curious if there is any rule of thumb on where to place external aero ports compared to the box walls and the subwoofer.
Thanks in Advance

"You almost had me? You never had your subs. Ask any bass racer. Any true bass racer. Its not about how much a piece of equipment costs. Its how you install it."
Keep the sub as far from the opening of the port as you can.

this is a good question, I have heard many rules. From experience and things passed along, you want the sub to be as far away from where the aeroport is INSIDE the box, but you also want the sub as close as possible to where the port exits the enclosure. This is very difficult with aeroports so my advice would be to keep the sub away from aeroport opening inside the box first and foremost. If you don't you'll have all kinds of issues and possibly destroy your sub. If your aeroport is very long, or can bend, or the box is just huge, you may be able to accomodate both rules I've set forth

The port must be the distance of its diameter away from any wall of the enclosure. The rule of thumb.
good rule but it doesnt always work, or isnt always able to be done....... hell id have alot taller box if i ran 6 " spacing around each.... next one im goin to try externals one set at 33 one at 42....

Some insight.

Thats a good link, hadn't seen that info before. My enclosures tend to have the ports entirely on the outside of the box, much better for higher SPL.

An aeroport is an aeroport whether its on the outside, inside, or halfway in and out. What you choose is install and vehicle dependent.
If you notice number gains in different ways sweet!
