General Tuning Question

OK at first my type R was tuned to 39Hz which was ok but I wanted more out of it so I tuned it down to 33Hz and after about a month I've really started to notice a HUGE drop in the SPL before. If I tune it up to say 50Hz would I lose all my SQ and low end bass. I've heard that strictly SQ subs like the Type R's do better and hit louder while maintaining there SQ at higher tuning frequencies. Thanks for your help, and by the way my box is partially torn apart so some quick answers would help.

both are pretty high for daily driving, IMO. You are risking bottoming out the sub when tuning that high for daily use, as most bass notes in songs are in the 30-40 hz range.

Ok, a ported box won't have any damping below the port frequency, and it will depend on the driver's suspension for control. Below the tuning frequency, it can cause some damage to the driver, even with little power.
