    Help with first BOX DESIGN

    I Have a 12" Infinity 1220 W Subwoofer. I don't know much about boxes, except that you use them to hold the Subs. I read about different positions making different sounds or something like that, but I still don't understand much. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should get/build? I don't know what kind of car I'll be getting but I plan on getting one with a trunk to fit a good box in and still have room for storage. HELP PLEASE? This will be my first Sub installation.

    Front Speakers (5.25"): still factory, replacing with Infinity 9603i soon

    First ask yourself what you want in the sub, SPL or SQ, then build accordingly, for that sub its recommended about 1.25 cubes sealed or 2 ported and IMO tuned to about 34, 35 hertz.

    SPL= sound pressure level (loudness)
    SQ= sound quality

    a sealed enclosure will most likely give you a little less SPL, but give a tighter hitting bass (SQ). A ported enclosure, which will also require usually 2x the room as a sealed, will be approx. 3 DB's louder than sealed but might not sound as accurate. I'de say for what your doing build a 1.25 cu ft per sub sealed enclosure, or what size the manufacturer says.
