recommended volumes for sealing midbass and tweets for comp sets?

i am going to be making custom door panels for my truck to house 3 sets of components a piece and am wondering what everyones feelings are for what volumes work the best for 6.5 midranges? the tweets will be mounted in the a pillars... if anyone has had some experience in this what the minimum and maximum volumes you would recommend?

Re: recommended volumes for sealing midbass and tweets for comp sets?

Depends on the drivers in question...although with 3 sets of components and a box tuned to 40Hz, I doubt it's going to matter all that much. Just go with whatever will fit...

Completely speaker dependent; contrary to popular belief, driver enclosure volume is not as dependent on cone area as people think. I also agree with JimJ in the aspect of just going with whatever fits with whatever drivers.

Re: recommended volumes for sealing midbass and tweets for comp sets?

i was thinking about using sonotubes with an mdf cap on the end and then just glassing them in to get the imaging as close as posible. but that would only allow for about .103 cubes per speaker and i wasnt sure that would be enough. i didnt want to do that normal rings and make a common chamber for the midbasses. with the pressure level inside the cabin i would have to make the structure of the glass unreasonably thick to keep the panel from flexing and creating coloration from the output of the midbasses.

    just wondered what you thought.

Hate to be honest, but with that many components your imaging is going to be shot anyway, and with that much of a substage I doubt you'll hear much coloration in the midbasses

Re: recommended volumes for sealing midbass and tweets for comp sets?

lol. i understand your point... i am just trying to balance to output upfront. and it makes more sense to me (maybe i am wrong here) to run 3 sets of $80 comps to handle lots of power rather than paying 500 or more for one set that will handle the same amount.
if you think i would be better off with one nice pair. i would like to know what you would recommend that will take 250 a side.

Boston Z6s or Pros. Not sure they'd hang with your sub stage though, but they get pretty **** loud. Also the new Alpine SPX-17PROs I just picked up get EXTREMELY loud. Of course, that could just be because they are inside a single cab S10 getting fed about 600 watts

kinda... i might do on in the a pillar and two in the door... the design isnt concrete yet. just trying to get some ideas... if anyone can come up with a comp set for the 250 range i would be happier just running one set... makes the install easier, and will for sure look better.

I like the sound of good metal domes at moderate listening levels, but with 250W per channel I'd say go with fabric domes. Especially so if you're comparing cheap metal domes to cheap fabric domes.

Re: recommended volumes for sealing midbass and tweets for comp sets?

hmmm. well i am trying to keep the budget for the comps under 400 bucks and need to handle 200-250 without needing to worry about breakin stuff.
so whether that be one nicer set or several less nicer set. i am open to suggestions.

i dont normally run this kinda power, so i am kinda out of my comfort zone.

every other install i have done for me in a daily driver was more like mid 140's and a 85X4 on a set a 6.5 comps up front and 5.25 midbasses in the back for rear fill... so i am trying something new and am looking for a little guidance.

i thought about just doing coaxials, but with as big as the tahoe is i was afraid the soundstage would be WAY low and the left side would crush the right because of the width of the vehicle (not running time alignment.)
