for example...

18x1
20x1 or even

well no not really. it depends on the volume of the box, then the port size thing kinda has a ratio not really though. i wound't recommend a 1 inch port. too much noise

No specific ratio to follow.
You probably don't want to go any slimmer
than 1:8. This is to reduce port noise.
Example: if the port is 16" tall it should be at
least 2" wide.

hmmm, knowing that, will i still be ok, with the 17x2 port?

Most likely you will be fine.
If you are using long excursion(Xmax) subs with
huge amounts of power your chance of having
port noise increases. The more air you move the
larger your port area should be. And if it's too small
you won't like the sound you'll hear.
If you can go larger, go larger. Ex: 17 x 3
But 17 x 2 should be okay.

hmmm, interesting....i'll be running 1500 watts rms....
looks like i'm gonna hav to bend the port...
it doesn't matter how it bent just as long as it is the right size?
i will have to do like a "U" shape bent, but having the top wall of the port touching the bottom wall of the port...you follow?
and thanks alot man, you have helped me out alot!!!!

You are correct sir!Originally posted by Sspider

As long as the port is the proper length and width and height
it can snake around inside the box. No problem.
Air will find it's way through the maze!
BTW You're welcome man.![]()
