box for Fi Q 12"--tuning question

Okay I just finished designing my first ever ported enclosure. The box is 2.4 cubic feet tuned to 32 hz. I will scan my drawing and post it on here tomorrow morning but for now here are the specs:

    External Dimensions: 35w, 17.75d, 14h using 3/4" MDF
Net Internal Volume after ALL displacements: 2.403 ft^3
    Port Area: 46.875 in^2
Port Length (measured along port centerline): 43.5 in.

The tuning I know is not exactly 32 hertz, but it should be pretty darn close. Like I said, I will scan my drawing in and then post it on here tomorrow so you all can make sure I figured everything correctly, but do the figures I posted above sound about right?

Just by glancing, that sounds about right.

Re: box for Fi Q 12"--tuning question

thanks. I think the actual port length that WinISD Pro gave me was something like 43.48 and the port area was like 46.9 but I rounded them to numbers that were easier to work with. We will be building the box friday so it will be ready to go once the sub and wiring comes in.

Re: box for Fi Q 12"--tuning question

This is my first ever box build, and i don't have tons of woodshop experience, so sticking to measurements that are to the 1/8" are easier for me until I gain more experience.

Now designing and drafting the plans I can do, especially if I have access to CAD software, I have done tons of that. Building is where my experience is lacking, so keeping dimensions simple makes construction easier.

It shouldn't be too bad. Just take your time with the build to be sure everything is right. "Measure twice, cut once" Good luck

Re: box for Fi Q 12"--tuning question

okay, I scanned in my drawing and here it is. The main portion of the drawing is a cross-section from the top showing the port.

in case it isn't clear, the overall height of the box is 14" so the internal height/port height is 12.5"
also the port is 3.75" all the way through

Re: box for Fi Q 12"--tuning question

sorry about the massive image, I resized it so hopefully this is a little better.

I would appreciate it if you all could double check my design, make sure it looks right. This is the first ported box I have ever designed and I want to make sure I did it correctly.

    Thanks in advance,
    Matthew

Re: box for Fi Q 12"--tuning question

I used 4 inch Aeroport, intead of the slot. Worked well and is much easier to build. 2.0 Net tuned to 32 is what I have now and overall box in only 2.4 internally. 2.4 net will have to be 2.7 or so .16 Driver and about .1 for 15 inch slot port will tune to 32 or so
