    Want more output

    Hey everyone I have made a ported enclosure for my car 2 cubes tuned to 33 hz. It has 38.5 square inches of port area. I hit 131.9DB on the termlab using various test tones with the back seats down which is very sad. The sub is firing up and the port is firing back kind of like a crx style enclosure. I have two options, I could face the sub towards the rear or build another enclosure with the sub firing back towards the trunk tuned to 35hz but I will lose 5.5 square inches of port area. I don't know what you guys think? I know my car is a trunk car and not a hatchback like how my older car was so I understand I will not hit high numbers but I was expecting at least 140DB .

    ::Audio System Setup::

    Vehicle: 2007 Mazda RX8
    Head unit: Stock
    Door Speakers: Stock
    Amplifiers: 1 Orion 1200D to sub
    Sub: Resonant Engineering SX 12" in a 2cu.ft. ported enclosure tuned to 35hz
    Electrical: Stock but Big 3 in 4g.

    Its in the sig, Go with a bigger box, a little more port area, and adjust your gains.

    Re: Want more output

    update: Okay I took apart my enclosure which was this: http://subwoofertools.com/forum/port...&Vas=&Fs=&CE=0 subwoofer was facing up, port was back.

    Then I made this with the same pieces recut: http://subwoofertools.com/forum/port...&Vas=&Fs=&CE=0
    but this time I sealed off the top hole where the sub was mounted and I fit the sub so it fires towards the trunk and the port is towards the trunk also. With the enclosure tuned higher and the sub facing a different way I highly noticed I was lacking low end bass like 25hz to 30hz. But the 40hz - 60hz range had a unreal notice of output. It sounds really loud plus I feel more air being compressed I think I definately gained couple decibels. Can't wait to meter it on the new termlab again .

    Sigh testing and tuning sure is tiring. Thanks for your input. I can fit like 5 cubes in my trunk.. I wish I could fit a big enclosure in my car but my trunk opening is only like 12.5" high and 30" wide . Now I can't wait to put my Head Unit in my car. It keeps skipping with the flexing and all that.
