I'm thinking there has to be mdf on top or the bottom and then the sub would point straight up.

Don't have to use MDF, just the subring. Thats what the fiberglass would do, be the rest of the enclosure.

Re: Fiberglass Spare Tire Well Speaker Enclosures anyone ever done one?

I didn't use the mold release, just blue painters tape and cooking spray worked fine.

The knytex biaxial is the cloth fiberglass I take? If not you will need a few packs of it, I used ~5-6 packs for a 12" enclosure. And the cloth material to cover to get your shape, don't use 100% cotten.

Also check out the fiberglass walkthrough if you've never done one.

I would make the entire baffle out of mdf. Make it fit flush to the trunk floor

kyntex biaxial is a combo of mat and cloth stitched together with alternating weave patterns . Depending upon the weight two - three layers is more than sufficient.

sounds good then sounds like i need to make a mold of my trunks carpet mold that pulls out to let you have access to the spare tire. Then I can cut a hole directly in the center of the tire hole for a 15. Then ''all'' i'd need to do is FG the tire area's floor and then the flat mdf board and hopefully have a good box. Of course I will be measuring to make sure there is enough airspace. I want the sub to sit a little low so I can add a false top panel on so you don't even know the sub is there

    MDF baffle, glass everything else.

    Check airspace first

how would one make an MDF baffle for a sub thats pointing stright down at the tire well bed in the trunk?. what i was thinking was flat MDF and sub sitting on it covering the trunk hole which is either 6inches or 12 inches deep.. I'll measure it soon.

Thats a good guide to what youd need to do, just adjust accordingly.
