    Need help on RL-p box

I am looking to design a box that will net 1.5 ft^3, and be tuned at 34 hz that will still fit under the rear seat of my Silverado.

I have come up with some rudimentary dimensions that will provide an estimated 1.68 ft^3 gross, and 1.53 ft^3 after sub, but before port.

    The RL-p 12" displaces .15 ft^3

    Attachment 11582

    From the top: W=15", L=32"

From the front, from left to right: H1=7", H2=9", L1=12", L2=20"

You should be able to interpolate the rest...

    Thank you!

Re: Need help on RL-p box

The internal volume should actually be greater than 1.68 ft^3 because I just calculated volume by breaking my box into two, without compensating for the lack of the two adjoining sides...

Mr. Cabinetry, I sure could use some advice from you.... I will probably even ask you for a quote on building the final design via pm.

    Thanks.

The RL-p12 will be downfiring, and I'm looking for assistance with porting, and still ending up with 1.5 ft^3 net.

Re: Need help on RL-p box

If you're willing to take a 2 hour drive I can build one for you. But I'd do the RL-P no higher than 32Hz as they don't like/need tunes that high and lose SQ pretty quickly.

I'm assuming the sub will be in the part on the right in your picture. That's the 20" length part, correct?

That's correct. I appreciate your help on this, as I have never gone ported before. I want to make sure that my SQ is as good as possible.

Re: Need help on RL-p box

i'd tune from 28-30 for the rl-p. no higher IMO.

my current box is tuned to 30 hz for my rl-p 15. pretty nice output and still fairly flat in the response.

i've had rl-p's in a variety of boxes, and personally i liked 34 the best. i've had them tuned from 16Hz all the way to 37 in 1Hz increments. take it for what its worth.....

Re: Need help on RL-p box

Well, 34 hz is what Soundsplinter recommends for the small ported box... I have some pretty extreme size limitations to follow here, and 1.5 ft^3 net is about the most I can do.

Anyone have the ability to look at my potential box on their design software?

how much power you got? if its anywhere near 1000 rms go sealed for simplicity. my 12" x 2 rlps would bounce the wipers sealed....in a mini van

Re: Need help on RL-p box

With ~500 rms each? What size box did you use? I have a limited amount of space to work with... I might be able to come up with about 2 ft^3 gross...

I have three monoblocks in my possession, an Orion 1200d, an Audison lRX1.400, and a Zapco 1100.1, all of which are around a 1000 watts rms...
