Optimum sealed 15" L7 box size?

I have a JBL BP1200.1 and a 15" L7. It's already in a 3 cube sealed box that I could barely get in my trunk (04 Accord coupe) and Im wondering what is an optimal size box for SPL. I know from reading that these are shi**y subs for SQ, but they're cheap and they beat. Anyone have any suggestions on what would get me more db's... Thanks in advance

If you want more spl you're going to have to go ported, sorry.

Re: Optimum sealed 15" L7 box size?

Alright, well ill refresh the question....What is the smallest ported box i can go with and it still be LOUD? I really dont think i can fit anything in the trunk that is much taller than 18 inches cuz im gonna have to put it in through the back seats, with the seats removed.

Re: Optimum sealed 15" L7 box size?

nevermind, Kicker says 3.0 is the min. for ported....and i found a 3 at 35hz in the ported box design section.....I think those dimensions are for a round 12". How much of a difference will my 15" square make on the volume? Does it matter?

Re: Optimum sealed 15" L7 box size?

Idk what type of deal you got, but L7's aren't THAT cheap of a sub.

Putting that in a sealed box is such wasted potential. If you're having trouble fitting the box in the trunk, its because you looked at what you wanted, and not what is optimum for your installation. To get more SPL, you will have to rethink your sub configuration, and since 15's dont seem to fit you well, maybe you'd be better off with a beefy 10 or 12.

The sqaure L7's make the difference, because of the extra cone area, its pretty close to the size of an 18 inch round cone.

I'd reconsider other options if you really want some spl, unless your dead set for having a 15 inch l7 in your trunk.

some subwoofers dont work too well in sealed boxes and this is one of them. You may want to look into making a fiberglass box
