1. ## Box design for 15" RE Destroyer

Im making a ported box for my destroyer and I want to use aero ports to save space, the thing is I don't know how to calculate tuning frequency and how long the ports should be and how much port area I should use. Tuan said 30sq in of port area for this 15 but that seems a little low. I want to tune to 33hz and I want it to get loud so shouldn't the port area be a little more?

Im using http://www.reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html to create the dimensions for a sealed box than I figured I would just add the aero ports. So far my width is 30in, height is 12in, and depth is 26in. This gives me a internal volume of 4.23cf. Driver displacement is around .2 so that doesn't leave much room for ports. Can anyone calculate how many aero ports I need and how long they should be? Much appreciated.

edit: also the sub will be on the top hence the 12in height and the ports will be facing the rear of the trunk. And how many inches should the driver have from the back of the enclosure to the end of the magnet?

30 sq. in. of port? LOL - my 18"s share 300 sq. in.

just get the size you want (go a couple tenths bigger than you want, to make up for the port) then see what size port you want. id say go with 2 6" ports tuned high, like ~40h

id suggest going like 3.2 cubes. do 2 6" flared aeroports. make the 2 6" ports 21.7. that will do a great #, considering its a 45hz tuning with roughly 90 sq in of port.

for every day, stuff a beach towel in one of the ports. will give you a tuning of 32hz with about 45 sq in of port and will sound great on music.
