1. ## A noob question for the masses!

I want to make a sealed box for my rlp and i just dont know the formula for figuring out internal volume........
Looking to make a 2.1 cube sealed box for a 15" rlp.

any help would be appreciated.

Do you want that to be your net volume?

Anyways, Length X Height X Depth (inches)/1728 = cubic foot volume. What are your dimension restrictions?

Yes im sorry 2.1 net after driver displacment.

(# x # x #) / 1728.

5. ## Re: A noob question for the masses!

i have a ton of room to work with so no real space concerns.

6. ## Re: A noob question for the masses!

now how do i back figure that to get to 2.1 net?

7. ## Re: A noob question for the masses!

Lets say just enough space on one side to fit the sub, so 16.5 x 16.5 is what we will shoot for for the first two dimensions. So, multiply 2.3 (assuming the displacement is .2 for the driver) by 1728, then divide that by 15(subtracted 1.5" for wall thickness), then divide it by 15 again, and that answer will be the final internal dimension. Then, you add 1.5 to each dimension because of wall thickness. You end up with 16.5 x 16.5 x 19.164. Thats not optimal dimensions, just an example.

Man, I hope that makes sense to you.

FYI sealed doesnt have do be as precise as ported. you can be .3 off and i bet you wouldnt notice an audible difference.

Word.

10. ## Re: A noob question for the masses!

just dont think too hard is what im saying. find the space where you want it to be whip up the length, width, height thatll fit in good. if its 2.0 your good. if its 2.5 your good. you're making a big deal out of nothing really. ported on the other hand though...

I'm just trying to get the general idea to him. Not trying to make a big deal out of it.

12. ## Re: A noob question for the masses!

i know, the original poster though is try to get exactly 2.1, when in the real world, it wont be very different

13. ## Re: A noob question for the masses!

i think i may have done it

I went with

18x18x12.5 for a net of 2.133

14. ## Re: A noob question for the masses!

yea man ported boxes if you screw up area a little bit it throws off tuning and all that crap....

Perkins.
