    Plexi to MDF

How would you go about mating sheet of plexi to a piece of MDF board? I'm thinking of revamping my current setup in the trunk in hopes of regaining some trunk space.

    Re: Plexi to MDF

Cutout the area where you want the plexiglass and use a router to create a little lip on the wood. Cut the plexiglass to size and attach it to the lip by using screws or some sort of ahedsive. That's how I imagine it's done.

    Re: Plexi to MDF

does the plexi need to be the same thickness as the MDF used?

What are you trying to use the plexi for? amp rack, box, or what? If it's for a box, get the thickest plexi and attach it like you were to attach it as a MDF piece.

no you rabit our the thickness you need in the mdf and set it in but remember 1/4 plexi on a 3/4" box leaves a weak point for flexing

    Re: Plexi to MDF

if you need to keep the strength then use a double mdf baffle with 3/4 plexi in the cutout

    Re: Plexi to MDF

I'm going to have the sub fire into the cabin...so I sorta want a window of some sort so that the magnet/basket of my sub is visible. The interior of the box will be illuminated by a few neons.

    Re: Plexi to MDF

How big is the plexi panel gonna be, and how much power ? That's gonna determine the thickness of the acrylic needed.

    Re: Plexi to MDF

Hmmm...power will be the same as I have it now...so roughly ~800 to my sub. Box volume will also be kept the same at 2.0 net for my RLp 15.

The panel, not too sure yet. I don't want it too large to the point it'll may hinder the enclosure's integrity, but not too small where you can't see the sub's motor structure. I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of a 15"w x 12"h.
