4" Flared Ported Enclosure

I recently bought one rockford 15" T2d4 sub and rockfords10001bd one-channel amp. I customize the box using two 4" flared ports instead of straight ported to have some space. The two ports are tuned at 37hz. I'm big on the rap & r&b so is this a good set-up for this sub to get good lows and spl anyone? Here are my calcs. for the the enclosure.

net internal vol. = 3.25 cu.ft.
port vol. = 0.19 cu.ft.
sub. displacement = 0.176 cu.ft.
total internal vol. = 3.62 cu.ft.
box dimensions = 26"(w) x 18"(d) x 17"(h)
trunk dimensions = 35"(w) x 43"(d) x 17"(h)

i would personally tune it to about 30-32hz.

IMHO, you should tune lower than 37hz.

Being big on rap, there are notes that go lower than 37hz.
Especially having a 15" woofer (easier to hit low notes), don't waste your time tuning higher for spl.
That will really bring your setup to life.

2 4" flared ports will do fine for a single 15". i have a pair for my 15 and they sounded better than a slot with 60sq".

i have four 4 inch external ports for my 15. i dont think 2 would be enough. my box is 4.0 cube tuned to mid 30's.

my box was 3.5cu' tuned to 32hz with 2 4" precision ports. with 1200w i did a 146+db on the TL. now i have the same volume with 60sq" of port, same tuning, and can't get past 142db. over all the box with the 2 4's sounded better also. that's all i'm going on.

37 is great for rap



And there really isnt all that many low notes in rap.

Jmac put up these graphs of the notes used in some rap songs, the lowest were like 34/32 iirc
