    12" IDMAX d4 box help

What would you reccomend ported or sealed? I think leaning towards ported.

From Exp. what size box and port works the best for this sub?

Well if you have an IDMAX, mainly an SQ sub - why not go sealed? In a medium - large box.

What do you mainly want to achieve? SPL or SQ, or are you split? I still think sealed, but hey, ported works fine also.

I am looking for 50/50 sq to spl. A shop here in town that sells them tells me ported is the way to go. no doubt about it. But since I did not buy the sub from them, they will not tell me the box volume unless I pay them to do it.

Sounds to me like all they want is your cash.

    Rec. box sizes.

    Sealed - 0.65 - 1.30 cu. ft
    Ported - 1.50 - 2.00 cu. ft.

Sealed will give you SQ and a fair amount of boom, but throw it in a ported box and you should gain a couple db's - although you might loose a couple SQ points.
